Our Renal Profile test basically consists of Sodium (Na), Potassium (K), Chloride (Cl), and Bicarbonate (HCO3), Urea and Creatinine, as well as Uric acid, Calcium, Phosphorous (Inorganic phosphate), Urinalysis and Urine microscopy. To perform this test you will need to visit your laboratory of choice for the collection of a Blood and Urine samples.


Electrolytes, Urea and Creatinine (E/U/Cr) is a common Kidney function test that is often prescribed as part of a routine medical examination. It is also recommended by physicians before surgery, or in emergency settings to indicate kidney function, key metabolic activities, and any imbalances in the body that need immediate attention.

The test results is indicative of the proper functioning of kidneys, giving a basic picture of the body metabolism and is a useful tool for early intervention screening and emergency treatment.

Besides electrolytes that are important to the body’s acid-base balancing ability, creatinine and urea (blood urea nitrogen) are necessary part of the kidney function test. The creatinine is a catabolic product of creatine phosphate, which is used in skeletal muscle contraction.

Urea (or blood urea nitrogen, BUN) test measures the amount of urea nitrogen in the blood. Urea is formed in the liver as the end product of protein metabolism. BUN is directly related to the metabolic function of liver and the excretory function of the kidney.

Creatinine, as well as urea (BUN) are excreted entirely by the kidneys and therefore is proportional to the renal excretory function. Thus with normal renal excretory function, the serum creatinine level should remain constant and normal.

Nearly all kidney diseases cause inadequate excretion of urea, leading to the blood concentration to rise above normal.

The BUN/Creatinine ratio is a good measurement of kidney and liver function.
